Increasing GPS Update Frequency

Overview

You may want to increase the GPS polling frequency on mobile devices improve accuracy of your workers' routes. This will drain device battery quicker, but you will see more GPS points when reviewing worker routes. By default, GPS location is captured by the device every 5 minutes.

Prerequisites

You need to have an account with Company Administrator, Super User role, or a custom role with rights to modify company settings.

Solution

1. Log in to the Street Smart web portal using your credentials and company ID.
2. Navigate to Administration > Settings.
   
   
   
   
3. Open the Tracking tab.
4. Click Edit in the GPS polling interval row.
   
   
   
   
5. Enter the desired value in seconds. For example, if you want GPS location to be checked every 3 minutes, enter 180; if you want GPS location to be checked every 2 minutes, enter 120.
   
   
   
   
6. Click Save & Close.

Testing

The updated value is displayed on the page.

After some time check worker routes - they will be more detailed, displaying more GPS points on the map (if the GPS connection is good).
